Purchasing a new cleaning system? Answer these 4 questions
In order to be able to guarantee hygiene standards in your business premises, a good cleaning process is essential. You can achieve this with a sound industrial cleaning system. But what choices do you have to make when purchasing such a system?
When purchasing an industrial cleaning system, you should answer the following four questions – four steps in the selection process:
- Do I want to clean centrally or decentrally?
- What form of cleaning am I choosing: rinsing, foam cleaning and/or disinfecting?
- What working pressure do I need?
- How many people will use the cleaning system at the same time?
A centralised or decentralised industrial cleaning system?
The choice of either a centralised or a decentralised cleaning system is roughly determined by two factors:
- The situation: new building or existing premises
- The number of tap points required
In new buildings, Elpress essentially recommends always making use of a centralised cleaning process if the number of tap points is greater than 4. In existing business situations or at companies with 3 or fewer tap points, decentralised cleaning is often the best option. You can read more about this in the blog ‘An industrial cleaning system: centralised or decentralised?’
Rinsing, foam cleaning and disinfecting
In the food industry, the combination of consecutive rinsing, foam cleaning and disinfecting is the most used cleaning process. Especially in production areas where food is processed. Disinfecting is necessary there to guarantee hygiene. However, this final step in the cleaning process isn’t always necessary. For example, rooms where only packaged products are stored are not always disinfected. Consider, for example, the area where the products are stored after being processed and packed ready for delivery. Rinsing with water happens twice in the cleaning process: before and after the foam cleaning. In some instances, rinsing with water is additionally done after disinfecting. This depends on the disinfectant used.
Low pressure versus high pressure cleaning system
Choosing the correct working pressure is essential when purchasing an industrial cleaning system. If the dirt is not stubborn, then low pressure (20 bar) is enough. For slightly more stubborn dirt, you can choose medium pressure (40 bar) and for really stubborn dirt, high pressure (60 bar or higher) is the right choice. Determining the degree of soiling can be difficult and is also open to interpretation. However, Elpress has a lot of experience with diverse methods for cleaning away dirt and can always give personal advice in this regard. You can read more about the working pressure in the blog ‘Cleaning your business premises: with low pressure or high pressure?’
Capacity of the industrial cleaning system
In order to be able to determine the correct capacity of an industrial cleaning system, it is important to properly determine how many people will make use of the system at the same time. This then determines the size of the booster pump and the size of the pipe network. Your can find more information about this in the blog ‘A tailored pump for multiple users.’
