Cleaning your business premises: with low pressure or high pressure?
In order to be able to clean your business premises efficiently, it is important to use the correct working pressure. When purchasing an industrial cleaning system, careful consider whether you need a high-pressure or low-pressure cleaning process.
Elpress offers cleaning systems with different working pressures. A low-pressure system has a working pressure of 20 bar. In a high-pressure system, this is 60 bar or higher. An intermediate form is also available: a system with 40 bar working pressure. The stubbornness of the dirt on your business premises determines which working pressure is the most suitable for your specific situation.
Cleaning at low pressure
Cleaning at low pressure is by far the most popular method. The dirt is often not or only moderately stubborn. In this case, a working pressure of 20 bar is enough to clean the machines and possibly the floors and walls as well. Low-pressure cleaning uses more water – approx. 30 to 35 litres of water per minute – than cleaning at high pressure (approx. 25 litres per minute at 40 bar and approx. 17.5 litres per minute at 60 bar). This means a larger surface can be cleaned faster.
The advantages of cleaning at low pressure:
- Safer for machines and equipment, so also suitable for cleaning advanced, electronic equipment (PLC).
- Less labour intensive: the low working pressure requires less effort from the employee.
- More energy-efficient than a high-pressure pump (less electricity consumption).
- Less noisy than a high-pressure pump.
Cleaning at high pressure
Cleaning at high pressure (60 bar or higher) is necessary when the dirt is stubborn. That is the case, for example, with so-called smoking carts, in which the material comes into contact with marinades or other substances for an extended period of time. High-pressure cleaning cannot be used on vulnerable PLC machines and requires more effort on the part of the employee. A high-pressure system uses less water per minute but is less energy-efficient.
Important advantages of cleaning at high pressure:
- High-pressure pumps are thrifty with water
- They are suitable for removing heavy or baked-on dirt.
temperature
A booster unit can consistently process a maximum water temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. However, this water temperature is seldom used in practice because it poses a risk to the employees’ safety. The ideal temperature for cleaning machines is 40 to 50 degrees Celsius. Keep an eye on cost when determining the water temperature. Cleaning at a lower temperature – with a longer action time – can sometimes be cheaper than a shorter cleaning process at a higher temperature.
